Well another week has come and gone and Christmas is getting closer. Scary isn’t it. It only seems like yesterday that we revamped and redeveloped the newsletter, yet it has been almost two months.

Wow… doesn’t time flies when you’re having fun!

Lately I’ve been receiving a number of emails from subscribers asking where they can find step-by-step detailed instructions on how to start an internet busin.ess.

So in response, I have decided to write a number of articles explaining the processes you need to follow to start an internet busin.ess and make mon.ey on.line.

This weeks newsletter is the “lead up” to the series and sets the scene for the other articles that will be published in the oncoming weeks in the newsletter.

How Many Miles Per Gallon Are Your Getting from Your
Visitors?

You may ask… what sort of question is this to someone who
runs an intern.et busin.ess.

Let me explain…

Do you operate your busin.ess like your driving an
environmentally friendly, miserly four-cylinder putt-putt
golf cart that runs on the smell of an oiling rag?

Or do you drive it like a juice guzzling, bitumen eating,
eight-cylinder grunt machine that spits out more fuel than
the NASA space program?

Yeah, yeah I know… but you know what I mean.

By the way… No, I'm not a grease eating, oil spitting "rev
head" junkie, that eats ball bearings for breakfast, while
I'm reading my favorite street machine magazine.

Ok then… what's the reason for a question like this!

Recently I decided to take my family on a long overdue
holiday to the beautiful Gold Coast located in Queensland,
Australia.

You see, we live in sunny Queensland, so we thought it
would be nice to rev up the car and drive to drive there,
rather than jumping on a plane. This way we could spend a
few extra days enjoying the countryside with the kids.

The trip was expected to take about 16 hours, so we
decided to space it over three days and make it a nice
leisurely drive to ensure we weren't stressed out before we
got there… remember, this was supposed to be a holiday!

Now I'm no "Days of Thunder" driver, but then again I'm
not a "Driving Miss Daisy" type of driver either. So while
we weren't setting any new land speed records, we were
travelling at a brisk, but leisurely rate, cruising down
the highway.

But, what really surprised me during the trip was the
number of people who were speeding past us on the highway
like they were being chased out of town by the aliens from
the movie, Independence Day.

But, the strange thing was that every few hours down the
highway when we stopped for a break, guess who we use to
run into? You guessed it… the very same drivers who "had"
to get past us like our car was carrying the plague or
something similar.

Heck we even passed a couple who were sitting on the side
of the road talking to some Policeman, gee weren't they
friendly people. In fact the Police must have thought so as
well, because he was writing stuff in his little book.

Anyway, back to the story… So when it came down to tin
tacks and all was said and done, we all got to the same
destination, at almost the same time.

But who do you think had the most enjoyable, relaxing and
less expensive trip?

Sure… taking shortcuts, putting the pedal to the metal and
jacking up the tyres may seem like it will get you
somewhere quicker than most other people at the time. But
more than likely, the very same people who you zoom pass
like you were Michael Schumacher, will catch up with you
sooner or later down the track.

So, what has this got to do with running a business online.

Well it's like this… intern.et market.ers are NO different
to those highway hillbillies! All they do is run from one
scheme or promotion to the next, wasting their time, effort
and money on things that were never meant to get of the
ground in the first place.

Think about it….

Have you ever been guilty of taking risks and spending
your hard earned cas.h on questionable advertising methods
or taking shortcuts in the HOPE that it will build your
busin.ess quicker than your competitors?

Have you been so frustrated with the lack of web.site
traff.ic being directed to your site from the search
engines, that in an attempt to speed up your success,
you've tried to manipulate (read spam) the se.arch engines
to get a higher ranking?

Have you succumbed to the mountain of advertising scams
you receive in your email box everyday, telling you all you
have to do to explode your busin.ess in a matter of days is
purchase one million ultra responsive leads at an extra
special, next to nothing, once only deal?

Are you spending your hard earned profits and sav.ings on
unrealistic, unbelievable promotions, in the slim hope that
it may thrust your busin.ess through some sort of
"Stargate" wormhole, were your busin.ess will magically
emerge out the other side twelve months ahead of where you
are now?

Are you putting your pedal to the metal, burning up the
gas in the tank to try to beat your competition to the
ultimate destination… on.line success? Only to find that in
the process you used all your gas (cas.h) and have nothing
to show for it, except an empty wallet.

Yes I know… I watch too much TV! But, you get the drift…
right!

Don't be fooled into thinking that to create a successful
on.line busin.ess, all you have to do is read one ebook,
purchase a product and then throw mon.ey around like it's
confetti at a New Years' Eve party in Time Square and soon
you'll be sitting back at the beach, sucking in the rays
and getting a great sun tan!

I'm sorry, but it just ain't gonna happen! Not unless you
just happen to pick the right numbers in the lottery!

I'm afraid, reading a couple of reports or ebooks doesn't
make you an expert on any subject, let alone an internet
marketing success story.
To be successful in any venture, you need a plan. It
doesn't matter if you're driving to work, going fishing or
starting an intern.et busin.ess. Unless you have created a
detailed plan that you actually implement AND follow, you
WILL NOT succeed!

You have to be savvy and patient with all aspects of
running your busin.ess. You need to closely follow a
market.ing plan that has a proven track record and not just
try anything that happens to comes you in a rush of
excitement.

In other words… don't waste your gas by being heavy
footed, trying to get to the front of the pack. Don't let
your guard down and fall prey to the scam artists. Don't
even think about using the market.ing tricks that you are
bombarded with every day in your inbox.

Remember the story at the beginning of the article… well
you need to treat your busin.ess as you would if you were
driving that putt-putt golf cart!

There's no need to be like a bull at a gate… this won't
get you any were!

You need to be patient and you caress your busin.ess down
the path to success. If you do this, you'll find that along
the way you'll pass the remains of many burnt out carcasses
of the very same cas.h sucking web.sites that tried to
speed pass you on your journey.

Unless you create a plan and actually FOLLOW the plan, you
will just be another statistic and join the other 95% of
websites that fail to make mon.ey on.line.

With this in mind, next week we will start a series of
articles that will take you by the hand and walk (notice I
said walk… remember the golf cart) you through a step-by-
step intern.et market.ing plan to help you succeed on.line.

You cannot expect to be an overnight success. If you do…
then I suggest you be like Forrest Gump and run like the
wind as far away from the internet as you can, otherwise
you are going to be very disappointed with the outcome.

(Hey… I can't help myself. I have to stop watching TV)

When you use PayPal as a payment option on your website,
you risk having your down.loads stolen, because PayPal
includes the 'success url" in its payment string, which
shows up in your browser when you click the payment button.

There are some very unscrupulous people out there who will
purposely obtain this information from your site and
illegally access your down.load area and steal your
products.

To combat this, here is a free down.load you can use to
still allow you to accept PayPal, but lets you to protect
your files from the scumbags who try to steal your products:

1. Upload your product to a folder on your site as you
would normal do. It doesn't matter what you name your file,
as long as you can remember what you called it and where
it's stored. It's preferred that you place the down.load in
a Zip file, as not all your visitors will be able to
down.load files with exe extensions.

2. Go to
http://www.snazzypromotions.com/freeware/index.php and use
the free PayPal tool located on this page.

Make sure you enter all the relevant information,
remembering to use the location of your down.load URL as
your "success page" ie,
http://www.yourdomainname.com/folder/filename.zip

This is basically the same tool that's being sold for $47-
$97 all over the net. I don't know why they are giving it
away... but I suggest you go and use it while it's still
fre.e.

3. Copy the code provided from the program into your
sales page. When a customer clicks on your sales button,
they will be taken through the payment process and when
they click continue, they're automatically sent to your
down.load link and can down.load the file.

To help your customers through the download process, it
may be wise to include some simple instructions under your
payment link, such as "Please click continue at the bottom
of each PayPal payment screen until you reach the down.load
page!".

The PayPal tool from Snazzy will hide your "success url"
(the one that contains you down.load link) by changing the
characters to hexadecimal format, which is still not
secure. You can also take the output from Snazzy and
"encrypt" using any html encryption program.

Snazzy even has a fre.e on.line version you can use for
this purpose.

For security reasons, every now and then you might want to
rename your download folder, but don't forget to create a
new payment link with the PayPal tool, so it points to the
right folder.

I think you're just going to love today's script ... this
simple piece of code will help to emphasize how up-to-date
your sales page is.

By installing this simple script you'll have today's date
on your webpage every single day of the week. This will
help to make your website look as up-to-date as possible.

Just insert the follow source code into your webpage

remember, the position you choose to insert the code is
