Well its' almost time for the fat red fella to be sliding
down the chimmeny and handing out all the presents to the
good boys and girls. Crikey... hasn't it gone so quickly?

As this will be the last issue for this year, I would like
to take this opportunity to wish each and everyone of you a
very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Like most, this year has had it's ups and downs, but when
all is said and done, I wouldn't have changed a thing.

Writing a newsletter each week can be very time consuming,
but the emails I have received throughout the year have
been very encouraging and I will certainly be back again
for some more punishment ... ooops, I mean rewarding
times... next year :o)

How To Get More Visitors to Sign-Up For Your Ezine!

Several months ago I read an article on increasing you opt
in email list.

The article described the reason why you need to 'sell'
anything you want to give away. People are people rarely
appreciate anything they can get for free, so this got me
to thinking.

Whether or not people pull cash out of their pocket to
acquire your ebook is irrelevant. You still have to "sell"
it to them....

...or rather they have to be sold 'on it' before they will:

1) Take the time to read your offer of a "free ebook";
2) Take the time to download it; and
3) Actually read it!

Consciously or unconsciously before anyone takes advantage
of a "free offer" of any kind, they look at the "opportunity
cost" (i.e. accepting your offer over every other offer
they are presented with at that moment).

If your offer is compelling enough, most people will take
advantage of the opportunity to at least read your offer
and download the book.

A well structured, benefit rich, compelling offer is a
prerequisite to "free" or "for sale" ebook offers.

Being fairly stubborn and resistant to change (as most
people are), I learned this stuff the hard way by
trial and error... until it actually started to sink in.

Here's what's so important about this strategy - I often
see online marketers offering 'free' things on their web
site, virtually begging people to download it or sign-up if
it's an ezine.

Regardless of what you'll read in countless marketing
boos, this is the definitely the WRONG approach and it's
more than likely costing you money!

You have to realise that there's lots of people surfing
the net just looking for "free stuff". These are just tire
kickers and they are only interested in getting something
for nothing and when you offer them a product via your
backend selling method, they won't even give your offer a
second glance. Unless it's free, they're just not
interested.

You need to develop a highly targeted list and the only
way you can do this is to get visitors who are genuinely
interested in what you have to offer to sign up for your
ezine or report.

I recently made a few changes to my ezine sign up form by
simplifying the process and removed the "free download"
offer. Surprisingly I converted over 270% MORE of my
visitors. Some of you reading this now are new subscribers
so you know it works!

So, the next time you decide to give a freebie away as an
incentive to signing up for your email list, think again
about this idea of 'selling' the freebie first... make it
valuable in the eyes of the person reading your web page
and you'll get more loyal subscribers and more sign-ups.
