Optimize
Your Webpages to Gain High Search Engine Rankings and
Increase Website Traffic
Getting
high search engine rankings is without doubt the number one
way to increase website traffic.
This
is why almost everyone starts right here. They
know that search engines can bring up 84% of targeted
traffic to most web sites, so they know they have
to submit to them.
So
knowing this you worked hard on your new web site, you have the
best designs, did killer ad copy
and included free content to
keep your visitors coming back. You then submitted your web page
to 300 search engines in ten minutes using one
of the automated programs that are available all over the internet.
Then...
you wait...and wait...and wait.
You
decide there must be something wrong. So you
go to http://www.infoseek.com
to see if your page was listed. You searched for your
domain by name and there it was.
You
decided to search for "pushbutton"
in the search engines, since your site was promoting Pushbutton
Publishing. Nothing!
You
did a search using Search
Engine Rankings, which gives you instant,
online reports of web site rankings in 7 top search engines,
including Google, Yahoo (Web), AOL Search, MSN, AllTheWeb (FAST),
AltaVista, Teoma, and the top 3 web directories; Yahoo Directory,
Open Directory, and LookSmart for FREE, and found that your site
wasn't listed in the top 30 search engine positions.
So
you manually checked each page on Google, page after page and
finally you found your site listed 853th in the search
engine rankings. Well, you think to yourself... it's
better than nothing!
The
real truth though, is that unless you come up in the Top
20 in the major search engines under
the keywords
that you selected for your site, you will not receive
any decent level of website traffic from the
search engines. People just don't go past the first couple of
pages (10 - 20 listings) when they are searching the internet.
Learning
how to optimize your site with relevant keyword
phrases to get top search engine rankings isn't
always easy. Achieving a top ranking will take some serious
work. You have millions of competitors to contend with... but
you have an advantage. You are willing
to learn and do what it takes to get to the top.
Think
about it though... 1000's of hits a day of highly
targeted traffic is possible from the search engines. How much
would you have to pay to get that kind of traffic from banner
advertising?
One
of the best tools I have seen to help you gain high rankings on
search engines is
Site Build It. This
program actually monitors the search engines
for you and helps you build search engine friendly,
keyword rich pages for you to achieve the top rankings you are
seeking.
If
you're not familiar how Site
Build It! works... and would like to find out how ordinary
people use "SBI" to earn money on the Internet... here

Optimizing
Your Website for Relevant Keywords to Gain a High Search Engine
Ranking
Not
so long ago search engine ranking was determined by measuring
keyword density, page length and other hard to
measure factors.
However,
with the advent of theme-based content websites
and the advancement of search engines, such as Google etc, it’s
now a whole new ball game. Now when you optimize a
website, it’s keyword selection and position
that makes the difference. But, if you follow some simple rules
and stick to the basic formula, everything will fall into place.
The
number one mistake that novices make is trying to focus on one
single keyword, such as “internet”,
or on a keyword phrase such as “internet
marketing”, and then attempt to create a website that will
have a high search engine ranking for these keywords.
Well…
I’m afraid that in 99.9% of the cases, it ain’t gonna
happen. High general keyword phrases, such as these, are ultra
competitive and very difficult to get a high
search engine ranking. Anyway… it would
be hardly worth the trouble in the first place, because the visitors
you receive may not be specifically interested
in your product.
Think
about it for a minute. After spending hundreds of hours tweaking
and perfecting your site, you finally managed to get a #1
ranking for “internet business”. However,
unless your site specifically caters for all
the hundreds of different types of internet businesses available
on the internet, a substantial amount of your traffic will come
from people who are not interested in what you
have to offer.
So
how do you deal with this problem?
Take
time to sit down and make a list of at least 5 “major”
keywords that best describes your website. This will
be your keyword “base” and it should contain mostly
single keywords, with perhaps a couple of commonly
used keyword phrases mixed in.
Whilst
you won’t use these keywords to optimize
your website, it will help you define the type of visitors you’re
targeting and will form the backbone of your optimization
strategy.
Your
next step should be to research a list of keyword
phrases using your keyword “base” as a starting point.
You need to develop a list of two or three keyword
phrases, under each major keyword, that will attract the bulk
of your website traffic.
Try
to build a list of at least 20 keyword phrases
for your site, but don’t be to worried if you can’t
think of them immediately, as it will continue to grow as go.
For example if one of your major keywords was “internet
business”, you could use “start an internet business”,
“opt in email list”, “make money on the internet”,
“increase website traffic” etc.
Pick
your keywords carefully, organize your site correctly and the
rest is a walk in the park!
Oh…
and by the way, don't be afraid to break a rule or two if it's
for the benefit of your visitors.
